Canape catering is the ultimate way to get your wedding guests mingling. Our chefs prepare every piece fresh on site, and our team circulates through the crowd with elegant trays throughout your event, so guests can grab something delicious while they move around and actually talk to each other.
This is the style for couples who want a relaxed, social vibe where people are on their feet, conversations flow and the energy of the room stays high. There is no awkward seating chart, no one stuck at a table they do not want to be at. Just great food and a genuine celebration.
Our canape menu spans cold bites, hot bites and heartier cocktail items we call Hearty Bites, which are more substantial pieces perfect for weddings where canapes are the main food service rather than just an arrival nibble. Every selection includes at least one vegetarian option.

Bowl food has transformed the modern wedding reception. It is elevated comfort food, individually plated bowls of seriously impressive dishes that guests can enjoy while seated or standing, mingling however they want. There is no formality of a sit-down meal, but the food itself is anything but casual.
Our most complete offering in this style is the HLB Signature Cocktail Pack, which combines canapes, hearty bites and bowl food into one all-inclusive wedding package. It covers your entire cocktail reception with variety, substance and quality. Our chefs prepare every bowl fresh on site and our team serves them personally throughout the event.
For larger groups, you also have the option to add a Live Paella Valenciana Station. A chef cooks a traditional Paella Valenciana, chicken, prawns, chorizo and seasonal vegetables, right in front of your guests. It is a spectacular centrepiece that creates a genuine moment at your wedding.

Every HLB buffet is a fully styled, visually impressive spread that our team presents with fresh flowers, lush Australian greenery, candles and wooden and white acrylic boxes at varying heights to create a beautiful, layered display. It is a centrepiece, not just a food station.
And the food itself is exceptional. Our buffet menus feature carved proteins, fresh salads, hot and cold sides and substantial vegetarian and vegan mains. Garden salad, pilaf rice and dinner rolls with butter are included with every buffet package. Everything is kept fresh and replenished throughout service by our team, so nobody ever arrives at a half-empty tray.

A traditional sit-down wedding meal is timeless. When it is done well, it creates a sense of occasion and ceremony that no other catering style can replicate. Guests are seated, courses are delivered by our professional waitstaff and the whole event has a rhythm and elegance that your guests will genuinely appreciate.
Our seated wedding menus are built around seasonal ingredients and expert execution. We offer two, three and four course options served as an alternate drop, where every guest receives one of two dishes per course so each person gets something special. Our four course option starts with a chef’s selection of canapes, followed by entree, main and dessert. Every table also receives a shared garden salad bowl and freshly baked dinner rolls with butter.

This is the wedding catering style everyone is talking about and for good reason. The Feast Shared Platter blends the elegance of a seated meal with the warmth and generosity of communal dining. Guests are seated, but instead of individual plates being delivered, large, beautifully presented platters arrive at the centre of each table and guests serve themselves and each other.
It creates an atmosphere that plated service simply cannot replicate. Conversations start over the food. People try things they might not have ordered individually. The table feels abundant, generous and alive. It is exactly how great food should be shared.
Every Feast package starts with sliced artisan bread and butter at every table on arrival. Then chef’s canapes are served on platters at each table. Your choice of two shared mains plus sides are delivered to the centre of the table. After mains, our waitstaff pass through with a dessert on trays to finish the night on a sweet note.

Wedding guest lists are diverse and dietary requirements are common. We cater for all dietary needs across every menu style, and we do it properly, not as an afterthought. When you enquire, let us know your guests’ requirements and we will build your menu around them from the start.
While every care is taken to avoid cross-contamination, our kitchen handles common allergens including cereals, gluten, dairy, nuts, sesame and crustacea. We cannot guarantee any dish is 100% free of these ingredients. Guests with severe allergies should be made aware of this.

Yes. We regularly cater weddings across the Yarra Valley including Healesville, Yering, Coldstream, Warrandyte, Yarra Glen and Seville. Our Feast Shared Platter style is particularly popular for Yarra Valley winery weddings and pairs beautifully with the region’s wine culture and communal dining atmosphere.
The Feast Shared Platter is our most popular wedding catering style right now. It starts with artisan bread and butter at every table on arrival, then chef’s canapes are served on platters at each table. Your choice of two shared mains plus sides are delivered to the centre of each table and guests serve themselves and each other. After mains, our team passes dessert on trays. It is $90 per person with a minimum of 60 guests, and it creates the best of both worlds, the elegance of a seated meal with the warmth and generosity of communal dining.
Pricing varies depending on the package, guest count and any add-ons. Canape packages start from a per person rate for the welcome add-on and scale up through to the Grand Canapes and Hearty Bites package for full reception coverage. The Signature Cocktail Pack (bowl food), buffets, Feast Shared Platters and seated meals are all priced per person based on your selections. All packages include professional waitstaff and chefs. Yes. Professional waitstaff and chefs are included in all HLB Catering wedding packages. They manage all food service, replenishment, clearing and pack-down throughout your reception. Our team is trained, well presented and genuinely professional.
Yes. We accommodate vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free, nut free and other dietary requirements across all our menu styles. We also offer complete vegan packages including vegan canapes and vegan seated meals. Please note that while we take every care to avoid cross-contamination, our kitchen handles common allergens so guests with severe allergies should be made aware. Final dietary requirements need to be confirmed no later than 21 days before your event.
Yes. We offer a children’s menu for up to 5 years featuring crumbed fish or chicken, chips and tomato sauce. A dessert option of French donut or triple chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce is also available. Main only is $40pp and main and dessert is $50pp. Children aged 6 to 8 can order from the kids menu or the adult menu at adult pricing.
We recommend booking at least 3 to 6 months in advance, especially for peak spring and autumn Saturdays. For Dandenong Ranges, Mornington Peninsula and Yarra Valley weddings the same applies as regional venues book quickly. If your date is sooner, get in touch anyway as we sometimes have availability. A 50% deposit is required to secure your booking.
Yes. We offer a late night snacks menu including mini sliders, baos, gourmet hot dogs and sandwiches from $6.50 per piece. We also offer cheese boards ($10pp) and dips boards ($8pp) and can arrange churros and mini donuts on request.
